Conference Scope and
Call for Posters

We invite all who are engaging with glass (whatever the perspective or point of view of that engagement might be) to join us in our reflections upon it.

The deadline for submission of abstracts is now passed, and we have a rich programme of oral presentations for all three days of the conference, covering a wide range of topics and featuring speakers from many different countries. A truly international event! Now we would like to invite authors to submit material for presentation as posters.

Posters on all facets of glass studies will be welcomed - scientific or artistic, historical or industrial, analytical or creative, educational or technological. Glass might be the object of study, or glass might be an essential part of the method used to study something else. Either way, glass and its interaction with light will inevitably provide a linking thread, contributing to our further enlightenment.

Come to the Society of Glass Technology Annual Conference in Cambridge 2015 where we will celebrate the fundamental interactions of glass with light – from novel glass telecommunication fibres and technologies through windows and artistic applications to the use of high intensity light to probe the very structure of glass. The Society of Glass Technology has been a shining beacon in the study of glass for 99 years – this conference will be your opportunity to meet with a unique community of people all focussed on understanding and producing that most important of materials in our modern life – glass. Conference structure
 
The excellent facilities of Murray Edwards College, Cambridge, do lend themselves to a conference running as two synchronised parallel sessions. Research in Glass Science and in its application to the production and application of glass in the modern world forms one of the conference streams. The other stream will focus on the History and Heritage aspects of this material which has captured our imagination, spanning science and art, archaeology and conservation, museology and the importance of raising the public profile of historic glass artefacts.
